Furniture Me

{images from Decor8}

Have you ever looked at a piece of furniture or a room in someone's house and think to yourself... "if I were a piece of furniture I would totally be THAT". Well my friends I think I just figured me out with this lovely vanity. I know its kinda shabby chic and a bit girly but I think it's such a strong piece with a beautiful story to tell. I love that it looks a bit stressed, a little worn out yet totally comfortable in its own skin... which honestly is the best part about it.

The rest of the house featured in Decor8 has a whimsical feel to it. I love all the antiques which totally remind me of my Dad and his love for the old and un-claimed. You can view the rest of the house here. Enjoy!

I Need Shoes!

{images from Urban Outfitters}

Sonny will probably say that I don't and point me in the direction of our garage where I would find stacks and stacks of plastic boxes with about 100 pairs of shoes. All mine. I know... I should stop. But seriously Urban has some great kicks... right?! Right!

No seriously...everyone needs a Head Hood!!! How dope are these sweatshirts! I totally want to get a custom made one with Sonny's head on my hood. I was going to Kanye... but obviously they already have that one all said and done for. ;)

Heavenly Weekend: Art is Life

Son and I had a super fun weekend filled with lots of art, cheese, la la land, wine + food.

Checked out the 'PAPERSHAPERS' Paper Art Serious curate by Giant Robot. It ends this Saturday so if you have a chance to check it out you should totally go. You can see up close and personal Ana Serrano's Cartonlandia, which by the way is amazing! Remember when I blogged about it here. So much better in person. We also checked out the Grilled Cheese Invitational which was down near Chinatown. All I gotta say is that there are A LOT of Grilled Cheese lovers in LA. The event was a complete success... so many Angelenos out to enjoy the most simplest snack of bread, butter and cheese.

To kill time before we hit up Brush N' Beats, a live art show featuring our friend Arlene Asuncion, we spent a little time at The Groove/Farmers Market and of course devoured crepes like we hadn't eaten in 10 years! Its funny when you eat something you are in love with how in one blink they are gone. Fast.

Today we hung out with my Mom and Nicole at Disneyland. For the next 8 weeks Disneyland is hosting an amazing Food & Wine Festival featuring celebrity chefs every weekend. Today's celebrity was Food Networks Dinner: Impossible's Chef Robert Irvine. Chef Irvine is really charming in person. My Mom was so smitten over him and quickly whipped out her camera phone to snap pictures of the hunky gourmet. Seriously it was too cute!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend... because here comes Monday!! :)

My New Favorite Flower

{images from Tangled Branches}

This beautiful flower is called a Hellebores and I just adore it. They are so incredible I just had to text my dear friend Tracey @ The Flower Tray to buy me a bundle when she goes to the Flower Mart this week.

It's totally the little things that make my day.

Esty Find - Necklush

{images via Necklush}

I've noticed these stredded scraves are all the rave these days. So much so that our friend Fifi Lapin's post sold out half the stock! :) The one above is my favorite.... but perhaps in a more neutral color. Love.

Oh don't forget to check out the Necklush Instructional Video:

Happy Birthday My Love

Sonny officially turned 30 years old last week.... last Tuesday to be exact...the 14th! To celebrate we decided to start a tradition by doing some outdoor activities. I suppose its to prove to our aging selves that we can still manage a little physical activity and provide some comfort to our egos! Ha!

We chose to do the Griffith Observatory hike to Mt. Hollywood. If you haven't checked out this little piece of heaven then I must say you are totally missing out. The view of Los Angeles is amazing. Overlooking the city and all its inhabitants is a bit overwhelming. Its hard not to just stand back and be in awe of how beautiful everything is.

For more information on this hike check out this link. Seriously it is a MUST to hit up if you ever want to experience LA in a different way.

The rest of Sonny's Birthday was spent with our bestest of best friends with dinner at Steam City Cafe. Which is the ONLY place in Southern California that has Poutine on their menu. Sonny swears it tastes like home so you just gotta believe him and enjoy the fatty goodness with him! :)

Happy Birthday Baby.... I hope this year brings you more love, life and happiness! :)

For Our 4 Legged Friends

{images from makeyourdogsmile}

OMG! Aren't these dog tags from esty shop, Make Your Dog Smile, just one of a kind!! I totally need to get each one of our dogs a set. Isn't your dog a Good Dog? They deserve a little something from time to time!

And if you don't have a dog yet but really really want one. Don't forget to check out your local animal shelters first. There are so many dogs there that need loving families and good homes.

Live in the LA area? Check out Perfect Pet Rescue. Its a GREAT listing of pets who are available now. I always check it out from time to time and am so relieved to see new dogs on there constantly which could only mean that the pets have been places in loving homes. :)

Love these plant holders from Greenware Design. All pieces are hand crafted by a two woman team from lovely Savannah, Georgia. One creates the holder while the other carefully plants each succulent to order! Awesome!

Heavenly Weekend: First Friday @ NHM

Probably one of the coolest things I've done in city!! The Natural History Museum of LA has been putting on "FIRST FRIDAY" every first Friday of the month. You can see bands like Bus Driver and Tim Fite, grab some quick organic eats and kick it in a chill lounge with some DJ grooves. For the inner dorks you can participate in discussions and lectures in the great halls. This month's discussion (which we missed because it was packed) was about “Darwin's Other Great Theory: Sexual Selection, or Why Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus?” with Dr. Michael J. Ryan. Too cool right?!

Anyways... here's the 411 if you wanna hit up next month's festivities. But get there early, because though ticket prices are very reasonable, the event sells out online and at the door quickly.

Adults: $9
Seniors (62 and over), Students and Youths (13-17): $6.50
Children (5-12): $2
Members: Free!

Jen Gotch & Her Polaroid Blog

I stumbled across Jen Gotch's Polaroid Blog a few months back and have been dying to just tell the world about her and breath taking photography. If you haven't checked her out yet please do and visit her main site here as well. Probably one of the most simply unique sites I have seen to date.

Champion Hoodie Remix

K... so I am kinda late in the game for posting this because the contest ended on 3/31. BUT you can still view some of the sick submissions to the hoodie remix contest. I don't really know how they choose the winner because there are so many designs - good designs! I kinda like the ones that look like a 4 year old mix-mashed them together. :)
